Have a 2001 Chevy Blazer question about the oil pressure.
When it starts it is at 40 psi but after driving it goes down 30 psi.
Was wondering if it is normale for this type of vehicle to do this.

doesn't seem unusual. when you first start it oil pressure should be about 50psi. after it warms up it could be between 30-40psi at idle and around 45 under load.

I also have a question with a 97 GMC Jimmy, the oil pressure goes from 40 to about 60 and stays at 60 when driving and idle goes back to 40.
is that normal?
is that normal?

After 100k many drop to 20psi when warmed up at idle and pump up to 50-60 at hard throttle. Mine all run that way and cruise at 40-45psi running the 5w-30 that GM recommends. Higher when cold of course.

If you are using the dash gauge remember they are electric gauges and are not always true oil pressure.
You need to put a manual gauge on it and get it up to operating tempt.
Oil pressure will always go down at idle. 20/30 is good idle oil pressure.
At or over 2500 rpm the oil pressure should remain at oil pump relief valve pressure.
Different engines and oil pumps are different.
50/60 lbs of oil pressure at over 2500 is a good ball park figure.
Put a manual gauge on it and post back pressure.
