Silverado 1 Subaru 0

I was backing out of a parking space yesterday and there was a Subaru outback below my tailgate that I couldn't/didn't see. I hit it. Zero damage to my truck (not even a scuff) but I f'd his bumper up. No citation because it was private property. My insurance will pay for his damage.

Hehe... it did nothing to my truck, and my insurance is going to pay for it. Might cost me $1 extra a month.

Before I opened this thread I expected to read something along the lines of a race kill.
Kinda disappointed now... :slap:

Greetings Blender,
Based on your statement - I think you might be surprised to find out that it is likely your insurance will increase between 12% and 15%. The amount of damage is less of a concern to the insurance comany - as it is the type of damage - the car wasn't moving - simply parked. Insurance companies normally consider this as "inattentive risks without cause" and its a red flag to them because its hard for them to understand how you wouldn't have seen a car before you got in your truck (much less before you started to back up). Expect to see considerably more than $1 as your future premium increase if my past experiences hold true.

I agree. Here in NY you'd definitely see a big increase!

Nope, the car was moving, and I've had this situation happen before. It wasn't there when I got in the truck, nor was it there when I checked my mirrors before I put it in reverse.
I do not beleive I will see a significant change in my premiums, but only time will tell.
I love how people like to make assumptions on the internet

Maybe if you told the whole story people wouldn't have to...Hey, did you sell your PS3 yet? That certainly has a place here in the truck forum.

I put all pertinent info in my first post. If someone's unclear on something, ask before you assume, that's all I was saying.
No, the PS3 auction is not over yet; in fact, I changed so much stuff on the auction, I had to just go ahead and re-list it.
Since you brought it up, here's the new link:

As far as this not being the place to sell it, well, I don't see that the silverado section is divided up into subcategories, so you'll just have to deal with that.:thefinger :thefinger :thefinger

I dunno about a WRX, but I know I coulda spanked the one I bumped bumpers with... It was a mid-90's Outback.

That didn't even make sense. I'm done arguing with you over nothing.

If both of you were backing up and hit each other.. typically the insurance companies will cancell each other out, in other words a "wash". Your insurance company would pay for yours, and there ins would pay for there's. I know this from personal experience.
Then of course it depends on your insurance company.. if you have some no name ins or geico.. they may do things different.

No, he was rolling forward, and I was backing up. I do have Geico, and they told me it sounded like I was at fault and that they'd pay for the damage to his car.
