The Ranger is a 2.5 L I4, 5spd stick. It runs great, nice and smooth for a 4cyl and get 23.4 mi/gal avg. I get a reading off of the Auto Zone analyzer of code P1401 and says high input value. My code book says, EVP sensor signalvoltage fault. What I want to know is does this mean the sensor has gone bad or is something else causing the sensor to read this way? Thanks for any feed back in advance.
PS: I find my Ranger a comfortable solid truck and trouble free so far except for this issue. I still have my 88 Mazda B2200. It now has 279k on the eng, rebuilt it at 250K, put new clutch in at 178K. It is always been touchy when it came time to pass the smog test too.

P1401 is for a high reading on the DPF EGR sensor. "Differential Pressure Flow" sensor.
The sensor has two small rubber hoses that hook up to the EGR tube. Make sure the hoses are in good shape and not plugged-up. Check the elect connection and wiring.
But be prepared to buy a new sensor ... this is a high failure rate item.
