I've been noticing a little kr when shifting 1st to 2nd then 2nd to 3rd. Do these engines have knock sensors? TIA

Yes they have knock sensors. I would try a little higher octane fuel. I had the same problem with my Escort and higher octane fuel and a fuel injector cleaner in the tank helped a lot. (PS. KR=Knock Retard)
