2004 Cavy Air Conditioner LED

Noticed this morning that my Air Conditioner button must have been pressed ON since the little green lite was glowing......the damn thing wont turn off!
The little snowflake symbol has a little light LED that comes on when your air conditioner is activated. At a cool 28 degrees this morning, I wanted HEAT!
Turning the selector knob all the way to the RED (right) and flipping on the FAN switch, the green light above the snowflake comes on and stays on until I turn the FAN switch back to OFF. I tried pushing the button below the snowflake several times but the light will NOT go off.

Question: Is my air conditioner really powering on despite the fact that the heater is on and hot air is coming thru the vents? That is, is both the heater and air conditioner working at the same time?
Question: Is this just a bad switch? Can I fix it myself or do I have to bend over at the Stealer another time?:banghead:

well my first question is, did you turn the third knob to the first or last setting cuz the ac will light up on both of those setting automaticly because the first setting is an a/c curculation setting and the last one uses cool air to dry out the condensation on the windshield so if it was on either one of those setting it is normal for the a/c light to shine

No, that little light is always on, it's not bright because the AC isn't turned on. If you switch the setting to the one with 2 arrows making a circle it will get brighter, telling you the AC is on.

You can try cleaning it,remove the unit from the dash and use electrical cleaner. The little push button went bad on mine and the unit is $157.00 at the dealer. You could check on the internet for gm parts and get it cheaper.

I had the same issue or so I thought. From what I have been told on this forum (which makes good sense) when the vent selector is set to defrost, the a/c does come on. It, as JStumpalump150 pointed out, prevents moist air from fogging up yur windshield thingy by providing dry air. See, not so bad. No need to go to the dealer and get ass fuct!!

BTW: I had the same type of post in the forum a week or so ago. What helpful blokes here.
