What engine does your 1999 Explorer have?

Since code P0175 corresponds to system too rich (bank 2), I suspect you have a V-6.

The P0304 code points to an engine misfire detected on cylinder #4. It could be plug wire, it could be spark plug, it could be fuel injector, and possibly a couple of other things. This code is likely the cause of the P0175 code.

When was the last time you performed a tune-up on the Explorer?

I just bought it a week ago. Yup, is a 4.0 v6 sohc. Could it be the fan belt or timing belt cause it?

I cannot think of any way either of the belts would be likely to cause it. If the timing belt were stretched, there would be other symptoms. Stick with teh basics first, such as the plugs, plug wires, and throw a bottle of fuel injector cleaner in the fuel tank for good measure.

Is there a reason you ask if one of the belts could be the cause?

Not really but the previous owner told me to change it soon. The mileage of this is 136k so i will think of any possibilities that cause the problem.
