Hey everybody, I'm new here although the archives have helped me on more than one occassion. I have a problem with my 91 Amigo. I know this is the Rodeo forum, but I've seen the admin refer people here b/c of more traffic.
The truck has 156,000 miles and is 4 cylinder, but I'm not sure of the size. It is a 2 wheel drive if that makes a difference.
Lately, the truck has been acting like its running out of gas (sputtering) as i get to the end of a gear. It started doing this mostly on uphill ascents and then whenever i would get on the gas.
Tonight, it finally quit all together on a descent uphill grade and it has refused to start since.
It turns over just fine, but doesnt fire.
I know that there are a lot of options to check, but I was due to sell this on Wednesday. The guy was ready to pick it up. I dont want to sell a lemon or a dead truck, but if this is a repair that I can do, I'd just as soon make the deal.
What do you think? Plugs, distributor (does this even have a distributor?), fuel filter, fuel pump, timing belt?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My Trooper had the exact same problem, acting like it was running out of gas on any long uphill climb.
It turned out to be a clogged fuel filter. I replaced the filter and it fixed the problem on my Trooper.
I cut it apart later and could not believe the amount of dirt and sand in there.
Cruddy expensive gasoline, thank you Chevron....
Good luck,
Dale

Thanks, Dale. The fuel filter was it, thankfully. Cheap and easy fix.
