1998 Rodeo Transfer case????

I'm getting ready to drop the 5 speed transmision in my Rodeo, I read in my Haynes manual that you drop the tranfer case and manual transmision as one unit. Is this true?

Thats the only way to do it. The xfer case cannot be removed from the tranny. Well, it can but its a major disassembly to do it. It doesnt just bolt to the end like on most 4wds.

Does The transfer case have to be opened up in order for it to be removed from the transmission ?

please explain the process if possible

On the MUA 5speed you pretty much have to disassemble the the whole t-case to get the housing seperated from the trans. So its basicly considered one peice. Most guys who install tera-low gears or do work on the t-case do it without dropping the trans/t-case since its just as much work.

I believe the t-case on automatics can be dropped seperatly though.
