Choosing nitrous systems....help

Im trying to choose which nitrous sytem to go with.
ZEX, NOS, Nitrous express, Nitrous works, Edel, Venom, etc...

I would like to go with a direct port system. Which company makes the best direct port kit for a 4 cylinder?

NOS Pro Race Fogger system, if I ever got nitrous (which I highly doubt I will) that's the one I would go with.

I see that NOS offers two different Pro Race Fogger systems. There is the 04430NOS and the 04431NOS. Any idea of the difference?

I'm not really sure, on all the websites I've shopped around on, they all seem to have the same numbers and are offered at the exact same prices so I don't know why they would offer two identical systems with different part numbers. Maybe call Holley and ask them.

Why would you never run nitrous?

The only reason I am thinking of running it is becasue I can no longer make anymore power on my car. Nothing else I can do can make it any faster, unless I make it unstreetable. Nitrous I think is the last step before I start doing my Body, interior, and ICE

I'm guessing the reason he said that is because once you go nitrous, the longevity of your motor deteriorates at a much increased rate compared to not. Even if you run wet shot direct port or w/e, there is still going to be more wear on the motor and it simply won't last as long as if you hadn't ran it. If it would have originally went 100k, maybe it would reduce it to 70 or 80k.

I just personally don't like it. I'm fine with using it in a race application only (a car that never sees the streets) but I think it gets used for the wrong reasons. It's not only very dangerous to the motor, it's also dangerous in the hands of people that use it for the wrong reasons (street racing, etc). Yes it's bolt on HP, but it shouldn't be the first step, or even the middle step, it shoud be the last in line in my book. I've just had a bad vibe about it from step 1, that's why I'll never run it unless it's the absolute last step in a track car.

I personally have great experience with ZEX, ,their kits are pretty high quality and work great.

I see exactly what your saying. This is my last step. After nitrous no more performance parts are going into my car at all. Ive maxed it out completely.

I am 100% behind you on this... Nitrous is not a street application in my opinion.

Usually when people wreck stuff because of nitrous, it's pistons and rods, sometimes a valve or two. It just puts that much more strain on the motor and all the rotating parts inside and things wear out if they aren't meant to have all that stress imposed upon them.

Don't forget the rings, I hear they get fried pretty easily.

I don't see why you guys then nitrous is any worse on an engine then high aiflow turbos. Its all the same. Nitrous requires more knolege then a turbo to run safely. Nitrous is not a bad thing..

I will be buying and installing the ZEX dirrect port kit on my 7bolt for next seson. Has everything except purge, bottle heater and pressure gauge. Wich you can get for an extra $350.

the only nitrous system that i will run on my car is an intercooler spray and thats about it. i dont want any nitrous near anything that combusts. my friend lost his car to nitrous and if i could figure out how to do pictures on here i would put the picture of his car up for you guys and girls

I agree with you, nitrous isn't a bad thing if used in the right way, but most people who have nitrous do not use it in the right way. People get the mentality that "oh I'll just get some nitrous and have the fastest car around" which in turn is true, but only for a week until the car blows up. Nitrous and big turbos both will do insane amounts of damage, but the cost to horsepower gained ratio is much bigger if you just buy nitrous instead of spending thousands of dollars on a big turbo setup.

Well who cares then? Let the people who dont know how to use nitrous blow their engines, thats just weeding out the weak. In my opinion nitrous is very effective and safe if you know what you are doing. MTCS with his mods seems like a person who knows how to mod a car, so running nitrous shouldnt be a big problem for him. Just my :2cents:

What? I could care less if people want to blow their engines because they thought they could have massive amounts of power at the push of a button. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying that people get the wrong mentality about nitrous and think of it as a "first stage" upgrade for some cheap power and that's not what it was designed for. I think MTCS would be perfectly fine with nitrous and he should get it. I wasn't advising he do or don't get it, I was just stating my opinion, that's all.

okay heres that picture i was talking about. this happened when a fire caught in the engine and spead through the nitrous lines in my friends mustang... about 80,000 was invested into this car at the time. ps no one was hurt thank god.

Another good reason why not to use nitrous... Turbo's won't do that. :wink:

Idk for sure, that's just what I've heard... I don't have the knowledge or balls to run nitrous for anything other than an intercooler sprayer though...

Nitrous is not combustable, if turn from a highly pressurised liquid to a -170deg gas when injected. It gives off a 36% part oxygen content at 560deg when in the combustion chamber. Thats why fuel is injected. If will feed a fire, but wont travel up the lines.
