I have an 1980, F250 truck which hit a cow... the front end, right fender, grill, radiator ,fan, etc was totaled. I am trying to start the truck. It is a 300, 6cyl and has been started by a friend since the wreck. (I did not hit the cow) I am selling the truck and need to show the prospective buyer it will run. The engine has been rebuilt and has less than 10,ooo miles on it.
How do I connect wires/remote starter to the thing to start it. I can make the engine turn over by jumping the solenoid but it wont start. I put fuel into the carb, the plugs were set at 50, but book said .44 so I reset them.
truck has been sitting for about 2 years, but started last year for a short period. still turns over, so not frozen... Any help will be appreciated since my friend who started it the first time is unavailable.
Jim. YOU CAN contact me direct at [email protected].
Thanks.

You most likely have a stuck float in the carbuerator. Tap the top of the carbuerator with the handle of a screw driver, and it should start. Don't hammer it, but hit it hard enough to jar the float. After two years of sitting I can almost guarantee that this is the problem.
