Why not? If it is an automatic then wire per instructions, if it is a manual then you will have to by pass the clutch safty switch (and make sure it is in neutral before you try to start it with the remote).

If you decide to have a shop do it instead of yourself, make sure you do a little research into them first. Check if there are any complaints against the business with the local BBB office, ask friends , neighbors, relatives for recommendations, etc. Having worked in garages in the past, I saw firsthand the problems early on these remote starters had caused by DIYers and some independent repair facilities. I said to myself at that time I'd never put one in any of my vehicles. Well that changed after I got married and had a family. My wife constantly wanted one for our van, and I kept saying "No." I finally had one installed by what I thought was a reputable shop in 1999. Shortly thereafter, I started having all sorts of electrical problems with the van. Unfortunately, the shop went bankrupt and closed it's doors a couple of months later, and I, along with many others who started experiencing problems had no recourse. (This shop had been in business 70 years up to this point and had a decent reputation.) I do know that present day systems are much better designed and more reliable than those made 10 to 15 years ago. In fact, I am in the process of researching possible places to have my next one installed in the vehicle I just purchased. I have a friend who is a service manager at a Chevy dealer, and he told me GM didn't want their customers having remote starters installed in their vehicles because of potential electrical issues. In some owners manuals they even have a warning printed in the book concerning this. ( I guess they want their own dealers putting in systems and making the money.) But like I said previous, the newer systems are more reliable, and if you do your homework, you should be able to do it yourself or find a reputable installer to do it.

I have one on my '90. Make sure you spend the money and get a decent brand. I have Viper; my dad has a Python. Both made by DEI. The DEI brand is a bit more exspencive; but they work well.
