I use my Aiwa stereo that's around 9 years old. It still puts out great sound. I'll always connect my comps to a home stereo instead of computer speakers.

i have experienced quite a bit the second system and personally was not that impressed with it. It lacks tweeters so highs are so-so at best and its bass its far to overpowered.
Personally i would recommend: http://www.klipsch.com/products/details/promedia-ultra-5-1.aspx

my brother has the model below that and he was thinking about getting the one your talking about, but he read bad reviews, like theres not much difference and the bass sounds bad.
i can get the second one for $409 and the first for $299. If i can get the system you mentioned somewhere between or maybe a little more i' d get it.
IIwhitexboiII: those are some nice headphones:grinyes: . my dad has bose home theatre system and it sound really good. but i don't really care about headphones:icon16:

were those reviews from gaming sites because if yes then its true they often rate the logitec as better due to bass. this is the reason logitec makes the bass so overpowered, many gamers seem to think a bass that its obvious and distinctive equals good sound. Same reason my roommates' P150 sennheiser headphones are the only pair of senns' that i do not like - overdone bass to the expense off mids and highs. The klipsch will offer far better acoustics. That klispch model is second only to the more expensive and somewhat hard to find m-audio 5.1 "computer kit" - as far as computer speakers go.
Also as far as bose, most their consumer grade stuff has a very bad rep in the audiophile world with good reason (the standard saying: no lows no highs it must be bose). Take those headphones for example, for that money you can pick up some very nice BeyerDynamics or some Sennheiser 600s or Audiotechnica etc... that will blow them out of the water.

I've got some cheap little logitech 5.1's and i'm pretty satisfied. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/CA/EN,CRID=2177,CONTENTID=9067 i only paid $79.99 canadian plus 15% tax.
i agree that they do have overpowering bass and not much in the higher range so i turn down the bass. i only run it on about 3/4's or 1/2 of the bass. but for the price they were pretty good.

I picked up a set of speakers at Radio Shack a while back on clearance. They are called MasonWare M1. 2 desktop satellites and a sub. Not bad for the price, but the sub is boomy, even dialed back. I managed to clean it up with the equalizer in Winamp, so it's acceptable.
The desktop units have LEDs in the base that change colors with the music intensity. Everybody needs a gimmick now and then. Kind of reminds me of something Nintendo would make.

I have an old boston BA635 system, from an old Gateway system, two small desktop speakers and a subwoofer. They give good sound, to me, for their age. I especially like the volume control and the sub's output control. Between those and an eq [Windows Media player] they do what I want, ran me around $20.
