Blue Bowtie, rear axle question.

Or anyone else who can answer this.

I lucked into a 3.08 8.5" rear axle today, but what makes it special is that it has much less wear than what I've got in the car now, plus it's out of a '94 9C1 and thus has disc brakes. It also has the 5 on 5 pattern, and I got the wheels that go with it to clear the calipers. It doesn't have posi, but it's not something I really need, anyway.

My question is this - with the disc brakes, to do a conversion from the current drum brakes, will I need to replace the proportioning valve with said unit from said '94, or is it more or less plug-and-play?

Keep in mind that it's going into an '88.

From what I read over the years on the 9C1 list.. The answer is no to replacing the proportioning valve. There is a modification which can be done to help. Look at the ImpSS forums for "Stealth Bolt mod".
