I have a 97 Blazer and there is a humming sound coming from the front end. The noise only comes when I am coasting or deccelerating. I checked for loose wheel bearings because the sound does dissappear when the vehicle is turned. There is no looseness, could this be my differential? the vehicle is all wheel drive.

Welcome to AF.

Based on a lot of previous posts the wheel bearings go after about 80,000. The key diagnosis is generally if it goes away while turning. I just did mine last month @ 79,000. There was no noticable looseness.

If the noise goes away when turning right, the right bearing is bad and vice versa. However, most people including me would change both of them if they are original.

But with all-wheel-drive that's a tricky animal. Hopefully one of the more experienced people will jump in on this one.
