My aunt is is in need of a transmission replacement for a 199 C 230 Kompressor. The car has 70,000 miles on it, the car is starmark certified the warranty is due to expire 4/26/2007, the maileage reaming under warranty is 30,000.

The problem now is the transmission being replaced is a rebuilt, Mercedes does not want to extened starmark warranty. So I am not sure the out come is just want to make you aware of this, or if you have ever experienced this before.

Also tha car is not paid for she has another 16 months to go. The car was bought with 5600 miles on it.

If she has a valid Starmark Warranty the transmission should be covered in full. Who is saying that it is not covered?? The fact that the car is not paid for doesn't matter.

Mercedes Benz of Daytona is replacing the transmission under Starmark Certified Warranty. There is only 30,000 miles left on the extended warranty. The dealer is putting in a rebuilt transmission in the car.

So let's say next May the transmission goes out again, my aunt would have to pay for a new transmission, as they will not extend the warranty on the re-bult transmission.

You better off buying a $6,000 transmission, than having it replaced under the warranty. Has Mercedes Benz will give you a 3 year warranty for the transmission.

So it looks like now she will trade it before 4-26-07 when the warranty expires, this was her first and last Mercedes-Benz. I have a Honda Accord EXL with 189,000 miles on it. It's been in the shop less than the Mercedes Benz has.

It does matter that the car isn't paid for, as she is taking a huge loss, when she trades it in. The car now is worth less than what is owed on it. She'll be lucky to get $5000 for it, according to the dealer.

As of Wednesday day before Thanksgiving, the transmission is still not here yet, but the warranty is ticking away here. She can't even drive it. Also found out this will take a major hit during trade in, like its worth anything now.

This was her first and last Mercedes, she has more to do with her money, than these exspensive services. My Honda doesn't cost that much. Thse cars are crap !!! The szervice writer told me he has a 04 that needs a new transmission as well.

I thought these cars were reliable, and trouble free.
