Service Manual Suggestions?

Now that my extended warraty is expired, any suggestions or advice on purchasing a service manual for a 2000 Silhouette? How good is the Haynes manual, or should I consider GM manual. My experiance in the past with Haynes manuals is they are too vague. Anyone know the cost of a GM manual? Thanks,

Try Helms for the factory manual, there are some cd's on E bay purporting they are equal to a factory manual. Also alldata.com has online manuals for 25.00 for a one year subscription.

I bought a factory service manual for my 2002 Silhouette 4 years ago off Ebay, paid $50.00 plus shipping for a 2 brand new manual set. You should be able to pick up a FSM off Ebay around $25.00.

Factory manuals for this model seem to be scarce on eBay these days. I don't like the Haynes Manual and purchased the factory/dealer DVD service manual on eBay about a year ago. Although it does not get updated, it is the best manual :) . I have seen several available on other forums. If you have trouble locating one, PM me and I'll give you a couple of sources.

On the subject of eBay. I've purchased all my factory service manuals from there at great prices. You have to be persistent however as there may be lags in time when new ones are offered up for auction. You pretty much have to check back every few days, especially since these are rarer than their counterparts (Venture/Montana). Another thing to do is check some of the sellers online shops or "other items for sale". Sometimes they may be selling one and it's not on the regular auction page. As these vehicles get older, and some dealers go out of business, or stop servicing what's left of the vehicles still in service, you might see them more on a regular basis. I had to wait a few months in order for some to appear on eBay for me to bid on.
