I'm trying to replace it, but my book doesn't show where to find it, they have every other engine type shown, but not the 2.5. I've taken off everything I could, put it up on ramps, crawled under, over and around the engine as much as could, but can not find it. I even called the NAPA store here and they were all scrathing their heads on it. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks much.
Edited: This is the part I got from NAPA:

As I said the ign module and pick up in the dist. handle the function of a crank sensor, you don't have one as such in this engine.

maxwedge, So what the heck is this part I got from NAPA? If I go to their site and put in the make, model, year and body type, this is what it says I need:

Does it go in the distributor or fit someplace else?

Cannot see the picture except for the connector side, if in fact that is the cps for that engine, look at the rear of the block about 1/2 down , look for that type connector, but I don't think this is the case.

I have an 88 celeb, v6, dis ignition. The manual I have does show a diagram for component location on a 87 2.5. It does show dis ignition.
I can look at another manual and it shows distributor ignition for your vehicle?
If you have dis ignition the crank sensor should be under the coil pack--ignition module assembly. Yes, you will have to remove the coil pack and ignition module to get at it, according to my manual.
I looked at the picture that was posted, from that view, I can't tell what that is.

If it has a HEI/dist ign it does not have one.
Or as they say back to the drawing board.
Why are you trying to replace it?
What is it doing or not doing?
Any codes?
Have you got spark and fuel?

I think 2.5 was DIS from 1987 on. My Haynes manual lists the 2.5's crank sensor as located on the bottom of the DIS ignition module itself. The module is located on the firewall side of the engine, down low. You might do best accessing it from underneath the car.
I believe by looking at the illustration that the DIS coil module has to be removed to access the sensor, and it is held in place on the module with two screws.
