Hi, im a new member here ive been modeling for quite few years now.
I have a 1/24 Fujimi Gallardo waiting to be built, but i have been trying ot find PE parts to go with it because i will be trying to make a detail build. I know HLJ have some Acu Stion for sale but i dont think they stock them anymore.
Can anyone guide me where abouts i can find them? ive been searching for nearly 3 months now but i had no luck in finding them, and also for those who have the set can they provide pictures and comments on fitment for the PE parts?
Thanks!

Damn, it seems like they have sold out aswell. Does anyone know if Acu Stion has stopped producing them?

Be careful about PE detail sets. Often they simply don't add much to a build, or just aren't worth the cost or effort to aquire. Many, many PE sets are full of parts that look no better in etched metal than they do in injected plastic. There's a common assumption that just because a part is photoetched it's superior to the kit part- that's simply not true. :disappoin
I haven't seen the Gallardo kit, but I understand it's very good. I also haven't seen any PE availible for it. If I were building the Gallardo, I'd take a good hard look at everything in the kit and at as many pictures of the car as I could find. If there's something particullarly poorly done in plastic that might look beter in PE (where PE is obviously a better alternative than scratchbuilding an improvement yourself), I would take a look at pics of availible of PE sets and determine if A- that part is included, and B- if it really would be an improvement in PE.
I've assumed a couple of times that PE is better, and found some S27 PE sets for Tamiya Ferraris I was building. In the course of the builds, it became obvious that most of the crap S27 included was nearly useless, and that it would do nothing to improve the model. I might use 3 or 4 parts and the rest went untouched. I've nearly finished Tamiya's Ferrari 360 with no aftermarket PE- I expect I'd likely laugh at anyone who said that kit could be improved with a PE set.
So please don't assume the kit needs PE to be better- even money says it does not.
'K, rant over. :cya:

Yes, i totally understand, i have built many kits without using PE parts such as the gallardo itself to, and it actully turned out great,
I know the Acu Stion PE set for the gallardo has some questions on the fitment, from what i herd it is proberbly the worst set of PE parts ever made lol. But to be honest, im not really expecting much from the PE parts anyway, but i just thought since i have made one box stock why not try a set of PE parts? lol
But i guess if it causes so much trouble to find it, i mite aswell make another box stock, or start another kit.
Thanks for the help, greatly appreciated :D

I have that Acu Stion PE parts for the Fujimi Gallardo and I only bought it for the grills/mesh, I think they always look better in PE. I have the Gallardo Sportec, that kit comes with a small fret of PE Try this :- http://www.1999.co.jp/asp/kuwashiku_e.asp?url=http://www.1999.co.jp/dbimages/user/hobby/itbig/10045525n.jpg&ca=40&na=10045525&no=1 Hope it works. I haven`t built it yet so I can`t comment on fit but I guess like MPWR said, you got to decide if it warrants spending the extra cash for possibly little improvement. Each to their own!!

Yeah, I agree about mesh grilles- but with the luck I've had with the fit of kit specific PE sets, I like to cut my own out of unshaped sheets of PE mesh- or use the nylon mesh that Tamiya includes in some of their kits. Some people really like the look of PE disc brake covers- to me they never look like anything but PE, and the kit part with a decent paint job (or turned aluminum ) usually looks better.

Thanks for the help guys.
The Gallardo i have now is the basic one, no open glass or anything. If i knew they had made ones with the PE parts i would of got that.
I just want the Acu Stion PE Parts for various parts such as the grills, engine decal and wipers if they are any good. Fujimi suprizingly made the brakes very nicely on this kit, so i can live without any etched parts for those:D
But if anyone is offering to sell them, i would still be happy to buy a set !

I think that this is one of those cases where over-generalising is a dangerous thing :D
The botom line IMO is that (as MPWR indeed says somewhere in his "I-hate-S27-P/E sets-for-F50s" rant ;) ) every p/e set needs to be judged on its individual merits.
I don't have a ton of experience about this but - so far - I have been glad I bought each of my P/E sets even though I only used about 50% of them. There was always something that I was very glad to have in P/E. Notably I loved the better detail I got on my Dino and Daytona from some of the P/E parts, my Scaglietti will be happy too, I think.
Budget modelers will surely think twice, but those of us lucky enough to be able to afford the extra 10-15$ usually are happy with the extra result. Apart from P/E sets themselves there is a whole range of generic P/E parts that are worth having in your armory - screws, rivets, HT lead holders, mirror faces, manufacturer scripts etc. etc. In these cases 5$ lasts a looooong time.
Also Andy, don't forget to factor in the added "fun factor" that comes with just the idea of playing with P/E parts. You do it with a lathe. That's what turns you on (pun intended!). For those of us without the equipment and your skill, we stick it to ourselves with P/E and CA
kay, MY rant over

I'm in much the same boat as Klutz. I build a lot of older cars with chrome badges and grilles, and easily photoetch improves the looks of these builds.
For instance, I'm building Hasegawa's Lamborghini Jota kit, and I promise you that the Studio 27 photoetch is a godsend to all of the little grilles and vents in that kit.

Thanks for the suggestions and help guys !!
I think i will wait intill i have some PE Parts for the Gallardo before i build it. The grills are done poorly by Fujimi, aswell for those who have built the kit would know, without the etched parts for the engine detail, its impossible to paint it like so:P
If anyone has a set of PE parts for the Gallardo, can u please inform me somehow and i will be willing to purchase them of you if you are willing to sell it.
Thanks again !

Those clear-molded mesh parts are meant to be painted with "smoke" or translucent gray to simulate the real mesh. If you get the right darkness, while maintaining the see-through effect, it'll look pretty good.

After his EM countach series... well Fuji give us a new definition of the "curbside" standard :D yes gallardo is VERY VERY CURBSIDE!
BTW also I like to see this PE set: exagonal patterned front grill 'll give a massive improovment at the beast.
