I've got an 89 civic hb :D
the guy i bought it from had rebuilt the engine for his nos and all that stuff  ...but my question is....
is it possible to have an engine half carburated and half fuel injected?
a friend of mine said that is what my engine is, but i didn't know if that can be true. thanks!
:hehehe:

Don't listen to your friend he is on crack..... You probably have a 1.6l si engine.... I doubt that it has been swapped but it might have been. Si is Multi Point Fuel Injection (has a silver intake manifold) and the dx is dual point fuel injection (has black airbox on top of intake manifold). Your car is not half carborated half fuel injected trust me on this! You can figure out if it is a Si or Dx by the following methods...
Si were only made in 5spd manual, came with sport seats that have a rectangular headrest, in 88-89 had painted bumpers, was MPFI.
DX were made in auto and manual, came with uncomfortable seats that had cheap looking headrests, 88-89 had black bumpers, DPFI.

thats what i thought. actually, i've got a standard so its 4 speed. the airbox is black and says the dual point injection, but my bf said he only saw one. i dunno, these guys are dumb

He probably said that it was half of each because on the dual point the throttle body is sideways facing up and looks jinda like a carberater and has the fuel injectors inside it rather than on the manafold:smoka:

First Off If You Run NOS In The Std Engine YOu Will Blow The Hell Out Of It!!! The Person YOu Bought It From LIED TO YOU!!!!! There's No Possible Way You Can Prep A STD Engine For NOS, THere Is Not Enough After Market Support For That Engine!!

Maybe he confused the engine with the JDM 100bhp D15B which had computer-controlled twin-carbs and came out in the Aussie (and British?) GL 4Gs and the JDM XT25 (and a few other varients).
Oh, and they will run NOS if prepped properly. Hell, if an EB3 1G Civic can run NOS (albeit drawing through twin 40mm webbers) then I can't see why a later model Honda engine won't - mind you, I'd be upgrading the fuel delivery system somewhat ;)

unfortunately you cant prep a d15a for NOS the engine is the lowest of the d-series engines, you have a hard time buying an oil cap for that engine let alone parts needed to prep the car for NOS!!! and even if you did foolishly run Nos In that engine, the horse power would be slim to none!! this engine is 71 hrsp stock!!! NOS Would Be A BOMB ON WHEELS!!!! And i doubt it if she had an AUSSIE Engine, nobody want the carbureated engine, let alone ship it to the states!!!
just my opinion!!

Ask Moppie or Setanta they will tell you! I know that New Zealand has JDM parts and cars imported in all the time and this is how Setanta and Moppie can hook us up with genuine JDM parts.

Austrailia gets JDM market models and a d15 can be prepped for nitrous just like any other honda motor. Convert the fuel injection to multipoint and build the internals. Same way you would prep any other motor for nitrous.

Yes it can be preped the thing is that prepping a 92hp engine (doesnt the STD have the dx motor?) for nos is retarded......
HondaGrrl

dx motor, just std tranny
gg! :)

the head on a std is different than the head on a dx, thats were the 20 horsepower loss comes from!!! also 91zc, the way you just said prepping in engine, would mean you turn it from std, to SI, i said that NOS can not be done on a std, and a dx, with the SI Its Possible, but Very Stupid!!!

Actually just swapping fuel injection does not make a standard or dx engine automatically an Si. It is still running a different cam, head, and block than an Si. Basically it is just an MPFI d15. Running a nitrous system on a motor with proper fuel delivery and tuning is not stupid either.;) There is a guy that runs at my local track that runs a stock d15 with a 50 shot nitrous kit. So it isn't impossible to do. I know a few people that have run a nitrous kit on a totally stock d16a6. All they did was run a 50 shot with fuel pressure regulator, colder plugs, and upgraded ignition. I have even seen a guy running a turbo on the dpfi fuel injection system.

Just a fast FYI for ya HondaGrrl, all the parts that fit in the Si motor can probaly be made to go into or bolt onto your little D15....again that doesn't mean that guy prepped it for nitrous though lol. However i knew this kid in a CRX with the 1.5 in it. When he'd blow a motor from running to much nitrous, he'd spend like litterly 200 to 300 bucks and just get another 1.5 installed since they were so cheap to buy haha. He was using like a 65 or 75 shot? that seemed to be the blowing point but i heard it was actaully faster than you would think. Oh yea one more thing, the dual point fuel injection on the 1.5 is also common on other cars from the same years like late 80s nissian sentras i found out lol, so yea its not THAT rare of a thing just usually blows for perfomance. 91zc about hit it on the nose for the most part with his post :smoker2:

Sorry - dead wrong on this one - try 100% dead wrong! :finger:
Euros are EE spec cars, Aussie Hondas are EDs. Chassis designation JHMED-xxxxx Every single Honda on our market from the S600 through to the NSX are fully imported from Japan except for the EK VTiR Coupe (Si) which was imported from the US.
Gee, I wonder how I know this? Must be something to do with living in Sydney and having owned a 4G ED Civic with it's 100bhp twin-carb engine built in Japan. Might go with the other dozen or so Hondas that I've owned over 18 years of driving - every single one of them built in Japan and exported to Australia hmmm? ;) We even got only the JDM built/spec Si 2G CRX with ZC. Ring Honda Australia and ask 'em where they came from - they'll tell you the exact same thing.
FACT!
You're dead wrong!
End of story :)
BTW - I have one of the few exclusions - mine is a genuine EF, not an ED - private import, so it's true JDM.

he coulda run NOS, like a 55 shot without hurtin it.
its obvious he didn't know that much considering he drag raced it on a stock clutch.

What about New Zealand? I know 2 people who can get me JDM stuff and they both live in New Zealand. Don't they get JDM cars?
Setanta

New Zealand have individual import laws. They can basically import whatever they like without too much government interference - unlike Australia which has too much of a lobby from the manufacturers.
Short answer: yes they get JDM.
Longer answer: consider their JDM to be all low-volume imports.

a stock dx engine is rated at 90 hp and can handle dos as long as it is only like a 35 shot...it would also be better to do a dry system in the intake pipe than a wet system

That's funny. When I was at Ami's house this weekend, she whipped out an OLD Sport Compact Car, and Lo-and-behold, an article on a D15 civic running NOS that won the Battle of the Imports a few years in a row... I can't remember what it ran in the 1/4 mile, but I'm pretty sure it was low 13's or high 12's...

1/2 carburated 1/2 fuel injected could have meant TBI Throttle Body Injection. which thats what it basically is:smoka:

no, you cannot lick my car,
thank you, but why call it a rice box?
not cracked out? its stock with 15" kosei K1 racing rims, and ghettofaboulos APC clear corners [and i fucking hate them]
its not for sale, and it will never be for sale. i will keep that car untill i can no longer tell its a car, i will then sob all over the heap of metal [assuming im still alive] untill i find a suitable replacement.
i do find it amusing that people love my car so much... but its just a stock civic Si, that currently is being a bad girl, friggin tranny is toast,
but next week it will be under new power, a slightly younger speed motivater[D16Z6, with a working tranny [another Si] .

Ok here's why I Love your car....
1) It is almost completely stock sept for the basics.
2) Its an Si ... I have a DX
3) It looks shiny... unlike my car which not even WD-40 could make shine.
4) Oh and it has 2 more seats then mine...
:frog: :D :bloated: :) :sun:
