Aftermarket remote start wires.....

I am installing a aftermarket remote starter in my 2000 Bravada and am having trouble finding the last necessary wire!
This remote starter system works with the OEM alarm system so, suposidly, I can use my GM key fobs.
I am triing to find a "negative lock signal wire of the factory system". According to the directions I need to connect to this wire to supply the remote start system with the "start activation input, OEM interface".
If it helps here is the full description out of the installation book. "[alternate OEM interface] This mode allows the system to remote start or stop when 3 successive negative pulses are sent to the input wire. Connect the green input wire to the negative lock signal wire of the factory system. If your factory OEM system does not have this type of signal, then a relay is required."
THANKS!!

welcome to AF.
I don't think the Blazers have a "negative lock wire". But check out this link. It was pretty good last time I looked. They also have a forum.

I have seen this wiring diagram, or at least one like it before.....
I have been wondering if the "power door lock" or the unlock would do the trick...........
thanks!

your bravada has a positive lock signal wire which means you need the relay - the relay converts the signal from positive to negative and yes the lock signal wire is reffering to the power door locks .... gm typically use postive wiring for door locks and door pin switches - ford can go both ways . wait did i say that word out loud ...:banghead:

Curious, why would you want to use the OEM fobs??? Range couldn't be more than 100'-150' tops versus at least 500' for a decent remote start or 3000' for the ones I sell.

As they say hindsight is 20/20....
Just previous to purchasing the remote start I had purchased newer fobs..
But you're right I'd get better range with most other setups....
OH WELL!!! if nothing else it was a fun learning experience. Next time I'm either gonna have it installed or go with a full setup, and not an "add on"...

Depending on what system you used, most "add on" units are actually just regular RS systems. All you have to do is buy the antenna and remotes and you'll be good to go. I know Valet's 561t and 561r and like that. They are both the same brains just one has the remotes and the other doesn't.

I'm sure that is the case here as well, the "brain" unit has an antenna input and the instructions reference programing remotes and such...
But maybe that will be something for me to look into later on if my oem fobs quit....
Course that also means taking the kick paneling all apart again and doing more wiring....... for the locks and antenna......
