Should I replace the seat or just the back?

First off, thanks to everyone here who helped me through my spark plug, fuel filter and Sirius installation questions on my car. I've finally got the car running the way I want, and I've got a sound system that will do for now. Or, realistically for the life of this car since any money I'd put into a new system would be better spent saving for Solstice or Sky that I dream of.
Anyway, now that I'm through with the important stuff (engine) and the easy stuff (Sirius) I have one final question about a repair to my car. The driver's side seat back has a broken wire in it. It's at the very bottom of the seatback, and without the wire attached the seat has almost no lumbar support. For trips to work and back this isn't the end of the world, but I'm coming up on the time of year where I'll be driving 2 and a half hours south to see the girlfriend, or 3 hours north or east for family gatherings. Having made a couple of these drives already with my busted ghetto seat I know this isn't going to be comfortable. So, my question is if I should replace the entire driver's seat, or just the seatback(if that's posible). As I implied above, I'm not planning on keeping this car forever. It runs good for now, and I'll keep it as long as I can since I love it, but I'm not willing to spend a ton of money on it. Anyway, the driver's seat is a 6 way (I think) power seat with manual reclining. Any guesstimates on how much time, effort, skill and money I'll need to accomplish this task? Any thoughts are helpful. I've also considered slicing open the seatback and gerry-rigging the support wire, but I can't imagine that would work for long, not to mention it would look awful, so I'm considering that a desperation measure of last resort if I can't do this job for under a couple hundred bucks.

if your looking to do it under a couple hundred bucks then have you ever considered a junkyard. you might laugh but youd be suprised how many grand prixs are in there. find one with the windows rolled up and the whole seat is yours for 100 bucks. not to bad if you ask me. hell i actualy found one of the daytona editon grand prixs in there that got rear ended the guy said 300 and i could have the entire interior. or you could check ebay and pay 75 for the seat and 100 for shipping and then you dont even know what your really getting. at the junkyard tell them to hook it up to a battery and see if all works. i dont recommend splitting open your seat. itll look like a horses A$$ its only a few bolts to get the seat out. its not that hard.

So with the power seat is it still just a few bolts and unclipping the wire harness?

Scoot the seat all the way forward youl notice 2 star shaped screw heads. remove those 2
push it alll the way back and pluss the square pieces of plastic up off the front of the track and remove the bolts under there,
pull up the seat and discconnect the wire clip and remove the seat. its pretty simple man.

Thanks so much. I guess I just got intimidated looking at all the crap under that seat. I'll check local scrap yards and let you know how it goes.

you put in all ur info and what you want and then they send you emails from junkyards across the country who have what your looking for. hell you might even find a seat with a heater in it. lol
i got a rear end with upgraded gears for 400 shipped. it had 36,000 miles on it 3:73 gears had the brakes, panhard bar, everything. so i actualy sold the brakes online for like 90 bucks and the panhard for 50 so i actualy only paid 260 for the rear end. not bad at all if you ask me and they are usualy pretty trust worthy guys ive had no problems ordering from junkyards across country

Ok, so one more question. If I can find a seat with a heater in it is there an additional wire harness to power the heater or just the obvious wiring I'd need to do to the switch for the seat heater?

If its just a broken wire in the seat, what about taking it to a place that does interiors to open up the seat and possibly repair the wire? Might be cheaper than getting a new seat... Just a thought.

just the regular switch and wiring setup man but dont forget to get the switch that goes in front of the shifter if you get the heated seat
