oil leak

My 95 with the 400 has a small oil leak that seems to be coming from around the oil pan. Someone told me there is a part between the block and oil pan that needs to be replaced and that I would have to remove the engine to accomplish this. Is this true?

The dealer removed all the oil pan bolts, applied lock tight retorqued my leak stopped with the motor in....:smokin:
