I have a 1983 elcamino thats needs a front clip. I have located a 1980 monte carlo front clip to replace it with. Up till 1980 the monte carlo was on an a-body. Will the monte carlo clip fit the el camino which is on a g-body without any modifications?

What do you mean by front clip? Do you mean core support, header panel, fenders and hood?

I don't think the hood or fenders will fit the El Camino, due to the design of the sheet metal.(It would look interesting though.) If you can find an older edition of a Hollander interchange manual, it should tell you what body parts are interchangeable between the corporate brands. Some salvage yards may have these books that cover that time period and may be able to give you a clearer answer.

There's that, plus the Monte Carlo has been a G-body during the duration of it's RWD lifetime. There are not many differences between A and G, mostly in the sheetmetal, the frames are the same.

only thing i could think is the radiator support would be diffeant but if you pull the front clip do it all together and when you set it up there you will see any differance in the mounts on frame right away i just got done getting parts off an 84 monte ss for my 80 elkieas far as i could see every thing the same other than body lines

I did this for my 78, the fenders didnt line up, neither did the inner fenderwells, it was easier to get an EC front clip then fab and fab to get the MC one to fit.
And i do beleve its only the 85-87 mc front end that fits perfectly. I could be wrong.
A bodies were the velle.bu and MC end of the 60's beginning of the 70's and G bodies came in in 1978 I believe. try a regal or gn front end, might fit better.

Keep in mind that if tag on the door says 84 if its after aug its probably an 85 model. 82-88 Monte Carlos were g body. An 82 should "fit" if you change the hood, fenders, radiator support etc. But 80 is to erly.
