Hey everybody, my mom is finally considering ordering stuff for me from HLJ after waiting 6 weeks for something from the local hobby shop (it never came) .. and I was wondering if those of you who have ordered from HLJ could post here to show her that it is good and safe?! ... Responses would be much appreciated
-Thanks

Oh also, does anybody have a ball-park estimate on what, 4 small accesory kits would cost for shipping to Canada??

j/k:)

anyways, my orders from HLJ have been very well done, came to the US in about three weeks and were carefully packaged. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I've had excellent service from them, the boxes seem to be packed very well and they are easily tracked by UPS once they are "in the system".

Hey, young man:p I've ordered from HLJ and spent about 200 dollars on one shipment. It took about 2 months for me to get my order because several items were backordered. They would have shipped sooner if I wanted to forget about the other backordered items. The package came very well boxed and carefully packaged with bubble wrap. Many of us have thought very highly of HLJ on this modeling forum and I don't ever recall any negative remarks.
Does "HASH" man's mother know what he does when he's not building model cars? :D
Well mom, HLJ has been an excellent and reliable shipping service for my toys in past experience.

I love HLJ so much that I spend so much of my paid there, LOL.
Usually takes about 1 month for my orders to come. Sometimes they are backorder and they restock at an OK rate. I'm from Canada too. Just a reminder to you that the staff at our friendly custom will charge you a small fee for package. For example, a box containing 2 model and 1 set of wheels had a fee of about $7 or $8. It really depend on the value that HLJ prints on the package. 1 time I got a huge package from HLJ and custom only charge me $10.

BTW, remember shipping cost money too!

I had never ordered anything from overseas until this year I really wanted the photo-etch for the Hasegawa Lancia 037 so I thought I would give them a try. It was wonderful experience. They are the best most honest company I have ever dealt with. You can tell that the guy that runs it really cares about pleasing the customer. He also has one of the best web sites for shopping on the net. I live in the Eastern United States and it is actually cheaper even with shipping for me to buy Japanese kits from HLJ than my local Hobby shop. Go for it.

I have my first order from HLJ on the way so i couldn't really comment on them, but all seems to be going well. Alternatively you may also want to consider Hobby Search (http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/plamo/), I made my first order with them just last month and it arrived sooner than i expected (just under two weeks). They did however send a wrong item - they sent a R34 Skyline instead of R33 - an easy mistake to make i guess. I was really impressed with the way they dealt with it, not only did they reply to my email straight away with an appology, they also promptly corrected the situation by sending out the R33 and told me to keep the R34 as a gift. This is the sort of customer service i'm not used to in the UK and that's why i will be ordering with them many times in the future!!!

Also, they are slightly cheaper than HLJ - around 50yen on most kits. I say order from whichever one has your kits in stock and try to order from HLJ only if the item appears in bold text.

I like that place so much that I give them a space on my website for free advertising. I get nothing in return but great service and selection:D I've spent more money with them than I care to think about!!!

I have used the family credit card multiple times to order from HLJ and have never had any untoward charges on the bill other than what I ordered.

do you have some kind of steady income? if so you might want to consider circumventing the whole parental rigamorole and getting your own credit card. i have a beater visa with a limit i keep at $500 that i use for ordering stuff with (mail/phone/net) so if it does get stolen the kick in the sack isn't too bad if i can't cancel it in time.

heck if you've got a part time job get a credit card anyways and start building that credit rating! you can never start too early.

just keep that plastic on a short teather lest you find yourself paying 18% more on your models ;)

I've had no problems, tell them to chill a little! I think all credit card co's give you some kind of insurance with online/mail orders.
