ok, i am planning on buying a 2007 dodge nitro, but i think it may be underpowered, there is the 3.7 wich only pushes out 210ho and 235tq 0-60 in 9sec, and the 4.0 wich pushes 260hp and 265tq but the 60ft is 8.3sec:disappoin
my question is does anyone know anything about any one of these motors such as internals drivetrain ect basically how these things can hold up under boost, and is wich motor would be better for buiding up, thanks in advance

the 3.7 is a good engine,& has been a reliable one,as long as you keep the oil clean, I've never seen one boosted so i can't speak to that,as far as the drivetrain,it uses the 45rfe trans, which is the same one used behind the 4.7 & some applications of the 5.7 hemi, so it is plenty stout enough to handle it, as for the 4.0 it is a punched out version of the old 3.8 minivan engine, and while it is a very good engine, and has proven itself for many years, I wouldn't go throwing the boost to it. Also the 3.7 is an overhead cam engine capeable of greater rpms, the 4.0 ias a pushrod engine which really doesn't like to rev too high.
