2001 Silverado LS ext. cab

I've got a problem with my Silverado left side sitting lower than right side. Front left is about 7/8 " lower than front right and rear left is 5/8 " lower than right rear. I've already replaced front left coil spring and made very small difference. I understand there was a TSB out on this. Anyone have similar problem or knows what TSB is about? Appreciate info. John

I have the EXACT same imbalance. I thought I was crazy. I bought the truck last year with 38K miles. I brought it back for a checkup and I asked about that. They said it is a normal stance, something to do with the crown of the road, and to help with understeer. I asked my personal lifelong mechaninc about it and he had noticed the same thing with some of these trucks.

I have a suspicion about the rear shocks. I have seen a "lazy" shock do this. I have even had some that were just "there" also known as dead shock. I am considering a new set all the way around. Last week I put a camper shell over my bed, and slid in a huge toolbox, which I out on the opposite side to even the truck out. It worked!!

But still, thats weird huh? I am glad I am not the only one.

Also I referred to a TSB about this and I have now come up with the TSB# GM issued Jan 01 2004 #01712 titled as 'Left front vehicle sits low'. If front of vehicle sits low, opposing rear would sit high. Thus if you fix the front, the rear would also come into balance. My thoughts. John

It's called the "Chevy Lean". I know Belltech makes a kit to fix this, but I've never had any experience with it so I'm not sure how well it works.

What is the recommended fix for the front? I hope it is not in the geometry of the suspension parts or something? Did they put a shorter spring up there, what? Any mention of a fix in that TSB?

I am glad I am not the only one who thought there were crazy.. :)

Have you tried to have the front end torqued-up? It may even things out.

I have a GMC 1500 and had the front torqued up when I put my snow plow on.

Seems like all of GM light duty trucks sit low in the front, my didn't even look like a 4WD until I had the front lifted up.

If you do get it torqued-up, you should get a front-end alignment.

its either chevy made it that way or your torque rod is weak, it is not your shocks ( shocks have nothing to do with ride height )
