which one would u rather get for the maxima

a stick or an automatic . I kinda know how to drive a stick and it's alright but isn't a maxima more of a lux car than a sports car ? so shouldnt i just get an auto

If you're not getting the SE Maxima with a stick then you'd actually be better off looking at a Honda Accord EX V6 or a VW Passat (which can also be had with a stick)...this assuming you've decided not to go with the ITR. The SE is the only Maxima that really outhandles the Accord, and...well, what's the point of buying an automatic? People like to say it's easier to drive in city traffic, but that's really just a joke. Any decent driver doesn't even really have to think about driving a stick after a couple months with it...it just comes naturally. It's definitely a whole lot more fun too. The VR6 Passat has an incredibly large aftermarket too and a great interior...you could also opt for the tiptronic tranny to get a manual automatic.

i completely agree with you about the stick being more fun and it's really not a problem at all in city traffic, after 1 month of driving a stick, you won't even think about switching gears anymore...
and it really is very fun to drive a stick. :)

Another thing is performance, the automatic equipped Maxima does 0-60 in about 8 seconds while the stick can pull it in under 7. That's a huge discrepency to live with...

ichthus - I dont want an accord my brother already has a 2000 ex-v6 2-door and its nice but i dont want to be copying him :) Even though their nice as hell i dont want one b/c he has one .....about the vw passat um.......thats just not me . And yes if i did an automatic it would be the maxima . The one that i'm considering is the 01 20th annerversery edition sterling mist . If i'm getting a 2 door then it would be a stick , if im getting a 4 door its gonna be an automatic .

so dont go for the maxima .....well then i have 2 choices either the Integra Type R or the Honda Prelude . Both are great cars ...but its just a hard choice ....i want so much but only have so much money ..

Whatever you get make sure it is a stick. Even if you get a 100k Benz I would get a stick cause it is funny to drive.

what sets the maxima above the rest? a 5speed option. the only 5 speed in it's class (midsize lux import under 30k, whew!)

i mean, come on. v6? 3.0 L? 190 *or 222hp* in an auto? gimme a break. you GOTTA get a manual. even if you live i n SF or LA. its life.

even worse when those NSX drivers get that Auto option. i mean. can you say "Poser" even louder?

Yeah haha NSX autos are really bad. Not only do they take the 10-20% loss in drivetrain, but they also suffer from having an engine that produces 20 less flywheel power. An auto NSX just plain makes me sick. A Type-R is faster than an auto NSX which is pretty bad.

i got a 95 gxe and it dissapoints me that it's auto...cuz i lose to my friend's si and it pisses me off a lot...and in plus...sticks are way funner than autos...just downshift it and bone the hell out...

don't ever get an auto i hate it...

Well auto Maxima's serve their point, but if you're going to mod the car at all then forget getting the auto.

i think you should get the car for how you want to drive it... if you're gonna race alot, get a stick. If you want to max and pimp, then get an auto. I got the auto BTW.

hey guys i drive an auto! 94 max se 2 be exact and it aint all that bad! but when i get my new max (quit some time from now :mad: ) it'll definitly be a stick:frog:

definately get a stick...reason being is that my se is an auto and well lets just say that nissan auto trannys suck. my torque converter is going down fast and well just for the fact that a stick is more fun

The maxima is the best automatic i've driven. It handles like a sport car while at the same time is a luxury vehicle.

If you like rush and think you're gonna race a lot with your car, get a stick..
but if you think you're the cute, rich, calm guy, get an auto for a luxurious max...

and I tell ya something..
