Hi there everyone, I have a 2003 Tacoma double cab 4x4. I have already installed a 2.5" spacer lift on the front, and an add a leaf in the rear. I was told by the guys at a few local tire shops that I could clear 285/75/16's on my truck. Is this indeed true, and will I have to re-gear my truck? Thanks in advanced!

You can fit a 33, but they will rub slightly. You are better off with a 32. You can hold off on a regear until you hit 35s.

Whew! The way some of these people are talking on here they say that you will need to re-gear if you have anything bigger than a 32. Well, now I don't have to be worried about a re-gear. Yea, the guys at the tire shop said 33's would rub a little, but not bad. Thanks for your help.
P.S. I have a pair of PIAA 520 fog lights that need to be wired up, and the only thing I don't get is the part about tapping into a 12v power source. Can anybody help?

You need to find a 12v power source that can handle the load for the lights. Look at a wiring diagram for your truck to see if there is an unusedcircuit for fog lamps or you can connect directly to the battery.

You do not need to regear for 33s, but your truck will be a bit slugish (especially if you have the 4cyl) and you will see a drop in fuel econ.
Did they come with a harness, switch, and relay? If not then pick up a headlight harness that comes with those things. Painless makes them.

The lights came with the wiring harness, relay, switch, etc. Everything is there to wire it up, I just need a 12v power source. My truck is a V6 with an automatic so I guess I should be ok.

Pull power where the battery meets the under hood fuse box.

So tap into the wire that connects the battery to the fuse block? Sounds good, thanks a lot!

No, do not tap the wire. Trace it back to the lug where it connects to the box and use a terminal to connect it properly. Don't forget to hook up the fuse.

So, your saying that I should get a terminal and hook the wire directly into the fuse block? Sorry if this seems hopeless, but I just don't want to screw up the electrical system in my truck, my dad would not be happy.:shakehead

Yep, make the connection where the battery connects to the fuse block. The load will be pulled directly off the battery or alternator. You will have to disassemble the under hood fuse block to get to the terminal lug.

There are two lugs right next to each other, one is where the battery connects to the fuse block and the other one is empty. Can I use the empty one? What do you mean by not forgetting to hook up the fuse, do I need a fuse for the lamps?

The terminal right next to the battery hook in is fine.
Yes, you need a fuse for the lights. If your harness doesn't include a fuse then you will need to get one. There should be a reccomendation of the fuse rating in the installation instructions.

The instructions make no mention of using a fuse, but I did successfully hook up my lights and they work! Is it normal for the little green light on the switch to be on even if the ignition is off?

Yes, they way it is hooked up it bypasses the ignition. Don't leave them on.
