Locking Gas Caps

Just bought a locking gas cap. Gas prices are so high I don't want anyone to steal my gas. Have you bought one? Are locking caps better than non locking caps for fuel economy? I paid $15. What did you pay?

I think that's about what I paid. I had to get a gas cap when I lost mine while on the road. it was $5 more than a standard cap. and with the key on my keyring, I don`t forget to put on the cap anymore.

Was I misinformed? Could a locking cap give you better mileage?

Was I misinformed? Could a locking cap give you better mileage? it prevents your tank from being siphoned. As for increase in MPG, i doubt it.

I think I paid 13.99 I bought it after I came out and I had not even enough gas to make it to the gas station I filled it up the day it was siphoned. I was so fucking pissed.

I've had my tanks syphoned and put these caps on and the problem has 'stopped'.
Only because I have my hunches on who did and they are too inexperienced to get around it.
Stealing is an art, if someone wants something you have, they will get it.

Sorry your gas was siphoned. I usually kept the tank nearly empty. I wonder if there is something out there that can keep my cap attached to the car. I would spend $15 for it, would you? I really miss my strap thingy.

duct tape is only a couple bucks a roll. :icon16:
Or if you really wanted you could use Gorilla tape which is like $5.25 I think, It's made from the same people that make Gorilla Glue! http://www.gorillatape.com/why.htm
You could probably tape, or glue, or screws to adhere a rubber strap to the gas cap and car. (probably shouldn't put screws into the gas cap though I think it needs to hold pressure?)

I don't know if they're available aftermarket, mever looked, but most of the cap straps I've seen streach around the top of the filler neck and onto the cap.

I just bought an '02 WS6 and the first time I went to fill i with gas the gas nozzle would kick off as soon as it started filling. I ended up having to let the gas just trickle into the tank, took forever to fill it. Well, I went home and got to checking things out and discovered something in the filler neck. What I ended up pulling out was a five foot look siphon hose stuck down inside there.:banghead:

Sounds like sombody was joking around, and you took it seriously. IF sombody is stealing your gas, yeah your going to notice a difference in fuel economy straight up. If your car seems to be using gas while your not in it and its turned off, a locking gas cap can help your fuel economy.

I'd be looking to jam it down someone's throat. Pricks. Like somehow gas is more affordable for you than it is for them. Cheap sonsabitches.
okokok.. NOW I'M GETTING MAD. We should institute a gas syphoning watch program... any individual caught syphoning gas out of an AF member's tank gets 5 minutes in a small room with no ventilation alone with Earl, after Dylan gives him a bowl of brussels sprouts... I'm not allowed too anymore. :disappoin
I hadn't really thought of doing this, but am starting to consider it. Although... no one really comes near my house :p

Well over here I heard on the news that many people were getting their gas siphoned back when gas was hitting around 3 dollars.. but im going to get one because this guy that lives across my house is pissed off because I, according to him, 'drive to fast'.. I didnt know 140hp was fast.. but thats just me.

Rally, lol... You're so fast you didn't even know it. Maybe he thinks 140HP = 140 MPH.:disappoin
Philly... I thought people up here got killed for syphoning gas... that sugar in the gas tank thing is LOW. You should teach your alarm how to make a fart noise, that way when anyone was standing near it too long he could be like... "**BBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRR** Hey you freaking PIG! Have some damned manners... OH you're gonna be a big tough guy and our some sugar in my tank??? That's just because you're too big of a PUSSY to do anything like fight the boss. OH run away, run run little Sally. Don't let your panties bind up and pinch your lips while you're running, you waste of genetic material... Oh Boss, we got some girls messing around with me..."

Well, well, well. After how long I finally got you :icon16: So they took your sugar and poured it into your gas tank, didn't even bring their own huh? :disappoin
And fine, I'll take the blame for the sprouts.
