Ok, well I'm going to say you get more with the ebay kit. That doesn't mean it's the better deal. I'm going to say that it is actually the worst of the two. I wouldn't buy a "turbo" off of ebay. Especially from XS Power (not that this is from them, but looks like they might have made it). The non-name brand turbos from ebay are sorry and won't last. Some of them have been glued together. I would say that you can pick up a decent FMIC kit off of ebay though, as the intercoolers are good/and cheap(as far as pricewise) and a pipe is a pipe.

I would definitely say the SBR-G50 is the better buy. It is name brand and has a good reputation.

So, SBR FTW...

you get what you pay for...and most deals on ebay are too good to be true...besides...when you're modding your car do it right the first time...pay the extra cost b/c if you go cheap you'll be paying a lot more down the road..that's unless you come across a real good deal by a brand you know

Ebay turboes are generally regarded as junk and won't break the 10k mile mark.

lol :1: they will split in to... SERIOUSLY! split and shatter into 100000000000 pieces... and when that happends... odds are... buh by valve, and probably a few pistons...

I don't know too much a/b that turbo, but I do know it's not an actual Mitsubishi turbo. It may be a 16G STYLE, but not THE 16G...

Here's the Mitsubishi version (costs more, but it'd be worth it in my opinion).

These turbos(50-trim and E16G) are two different sizes. How much hp are you looking to put down?

Also, the E16G will bolt up to your stock manifold. The 50-trim will not, but if you spring for the t3 manifold, it will allow you more options to upgrade to in the future.

With either of those turbo's, if you're gonna use some high boost and lay some good numbers, I'd spring for the external gate (50-trim, you have to)

you have to tell us what your goals are h.p wise, also what you bought for supporting mods, hopefully they include fuel management (injectors and fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator, and a tuning device SAFC2+data logger, dsm link etc...) but my choice would be the sbr g-50 because thats what im getting it only outflows the evo 3 16g by 4 or 5 lbs/min if im not mistaken (correct me if im wrong) if your lookin to make 300-350 whp get the evo and you could run 550cc injectors and safc2 with fpr and f/p.. but for 350+ get the g50 its a really good bang for your buck but if you get the g50 your going to have to run 780cc inj and dsm link (ive seen like 2 people run safc on these big of injectors(780) with these turbos but i dont think its worth it when dsm link is like 2 bills more then sacf2(neo)

Ok i am looking to get about 300-350 hp. i already have a fpr and 550 cc injectors. I also got a datalogger on the way. Oh and i have a walboro 255 fuel pump.

I am wanting a turbo that would be the best for street racing and still have room for mods.

Then the 16g is your turbo!

Evo III 16G... I might suggest either getting the 34mm wastegate upgrade or getting an external wastegate (best), to control that nasty boost creep

the evo 3 is probally the gt series...actually i can probally gaurnentee it is. you could probally find a better quality turbo at target. and the gt50 is a SBR, last time i checked SBR was still using the Bulleye turbine housing, that housing is cause to huge hp loss, around ~75hp loss.... so my answer is neither.

I already said (in an earlier post) to get the Mitsu E16G...

OT: How much hp you getting outta your setup?, can you get off the line decent?(wheel spin/hop?)

I always wondered why SBR turbos seemed to be lower. How do you like that PTE? I am eyeing up a couple PTEs and I think that would probably be the better option for the thread starter.

I do believe the PTE 50-trim is a bolt-on turbo for a DSM... it uses the DSM flange, but why would you want to do that?

Bolt-on a T3/T4 manifold, that'll leave you more options when you upgrade/swap turbos. I just think that's the better route.

I'll be honest, I was originally looking at the PTE(50), but I decided to not go that route, for aforementioned reason. I've heard decent things a/b their construction and reliability... as far as performance, I've never been close enough to one to see any hard data...

Actually, thats not right. There is a wide range of higher HP turbos for the mitsu flange. PTE makes bolt on turbos from 450 hp (50 trim) all the way to 630 hp PTE61. Beyond that, FP makes quite a bit of bolt on turbos too, from the 500 hp green (50 trim) to the 600+ red (60-1) and I think the higher hp FP3065 and FP3575 are also bolt ons.

Excuse me, I stand corrected...

I hang around all the Honda boys and all they talk a/b is T3... it's drilled into my brain that the DSM flange/turbos are inferior...

I didn't really have any backup to that statement, I was just going on heresay... I apologize... looks like I have some reading to do...

Gotta member, I'm fairly new to the DSM section... I came from the 3S platform earlier this year... I've only been here since a/b June (less you count me being here in March with the '97 RS)

So I'm learning... haven't had much time/money to do shit to my Talon yet... aside from getting it straight enough to drive
