Hello there!
I need a little help / advise / on how to cover the Carrera GT frame structure in Carbon Fiber.
I have a little experience in CFing but this seems like a hell of a task especially the engine compertment.:evillol:
How do you get the shape of this frames in CF?
How do you get the CF to align in its fibre structure?
These are the two main things that bother me-anyone with his beautifully built Carrera GT who can help me out ? >Pictures would be perfect!:icon16:

Thanks

campenr.1--The best thing to do is search the forums. Lots of pictures of that car. Here is the link for the completed forums:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/search.php?searchid=1733805

If you need some 1:1 reference try my link:

When in doubt search it out....
Good Luck! CF scares me, but I do a little at a time to try and get better at it.

The person you need to talk to is rallyraider. His Carrera GT is awesome. He is a member here but the pics in his thread are not working but here is a link to his website http://rallyraider.i8.com/porsche-carrera-gt/porsche-carrera-gt.html

Try sending him a PM and I am sure he will help you out.

Mike.

The only way to carbon fibre parts like the CGT chassis is by making templates with masking tape, transfering the shape to carbon fibre decal, cut out and apply. Sounds easy but can be tricky. There are plenty of descriptions of such techniques on this site already. For example there are some pics of making a template for a seat shell here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=93638&page=5) and freakray has a how-to on something similar in the tutorial links sticky.

As Chris said, find references of the real thing so you know which type of weave to use and what direction it should run. The process is far from simple but plenty of us have figured out how to make it work so some trial and error on your part should see you succeed too.

Oh and don't bother with Scale Motorsports templated decal set for the CGT, it is completely wrong and useless.

Thanks a lot - so ther is no special way of easy dealing with it.
I have some experience with making templates for seats - so I will try my best and keep you posted.

greetings
