how would i get my alpine MRD M1005 amp to do the 1000W x 1 (1%THD) load? These are the specs on it and i was confused about how it pushes out 700 rms at 2 ohms but also can push out 1000 rms at 2 ohms.
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 700W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 500W x 1
RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 1000W x 1 (1% THD)
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)

the 700 is when the car is not running and is being powered off the battery and the 1000 is when the car is on and is being powered by the alternator

to expand on that .... 700 watts is at a bettery voltage of 12 volts, the 1000 watts is at an alternator charging voltage of 14.4 volts. So you're amp is getting like 20% higher voltage, and it's more efficient at making power at the higher input voltages - it's called a loosely regulated power supply.
