factors with airflow

hey ya'll, im doin' a presentation for my engineering class on the main factors of ignition with vehicles and i know it depends on fuel, air, compression, timing, and spark...but i don't know all the factors within air and compression. I know the censors have alot to do with both, but can anyone help me with the names of those censors and maybe other vitalities with air and compression?..thanks
