Wsup. I had a new muffler and pipe installed from the cat today, and i drove it around a couple of hours today - however i noticed, there's a burning smell coming from under the car (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=124981#) now?! seems to be getting less, but ill have to check it our more tommorow....i wondered if its because its new, but i never had this happen the last 2 times i had my exhaust changed so it is a bit distressing. anyone have a similar experience?

Very normal. It will go away in a week or so. The aluminized coating and leftover chemicals from the steel manufacturing burn off. Plus you have greasy handprints from the installer burning off.

And the labels as well. They use the stickiest stickers to adhere the labels onto exhausts, and those have to burn off as well.

But what about emissions testing? I just ordered a new catalytic today once that's in I'm taking it for inspection. literally driving it across the street.

We'll see...

the smell is cosmolene (sp) which prevents steel from rusting. It has no effect on emissions.
