Aftermarket power locks

Is this possible? I would like to add central locks to me car and I was wondering if a kit is available or if anybody on the forum has ever attemped to do this. I just have plain old manual locks currently. Any input would be appreciated.

Yes they make kits that you can use. I never installed one...got rid fo my cav before I put it in.

Thanks, KrisCheck this site out ,I am in the process of getting power locks and windows for my 2000 Silverado. I was impressed with there site. Member of the better buisness bureau. Lots of online instructions ,with pictures for installation . Central locks for me are 59.95 or if I want keyless entry 99.95 . Check them out . if you got the bucks you can do power windows also.

I just had SoundFx install them for me when I had my alarm and remote start put in.

I do them all the time for dealerships. Yes, if you get the DEI brand of locks or even the Spal brand, you'll be good to go. The hard part is one, getting all the nessecary wires into the doors. Usually, I cut off all the plugs and crap, use soap and water, then pull them thru the boot. The other thing that can be tricky is lining up the lock motor where you need it but without being in the way of anything. Usually you'll have to bend the rods to make this work. The only thing I can tell you is KEEP IT SIMPLE. The less bends, the better. Once you think you have it right, test it with a 12v. drill battery. If it's OK then try to adjust the motor where it "moves" even both ways. The reason is that inside the motor is the switches too. So, when one motor move so far in one direction, the others follow.

Once I have everything completely right, I usually use LocTite or something similar and really tighten the rods down.

Yes but I use Spal window kits which use the manual regulators already in the doors. Taking all that out and putting in power regulators is too time consuming and dealers wouldn't want to pay the price. No, I only use DEI or Spal.

How long, on average does it take to do a manual to power lock conversion? How complicated is it? Is it worth it? Also, thanks for the input.
