explorer 2002 keys?

Hey guys i want to get another key for my ford explorer 2002 ED. What do i do to get one. Do i have to call the dealer first? Can i just go to my dealer? About how much is it to get another key?

Any locksmith will be able to get you one. They range between 20 and 30 bucks here in Canada for an after market. people that install alarms and remote starts should also have access to spare keys. You might need all your keys present when they program the new one due to the fact that once you exit program mode it will erase all previous keys.

Your owner's manual should have details on what it takes to program additional keys. As denisb mentioned, you will want to have all keys present, and usually need at least 2 programmed keys to get into the program mode. But, your manual should have more details.
