Babies Mang

So I need some opinions (more like backup actually). Consider the following:

Me and my lady friend were talking about baby names today (not expecting or anything like that), and I told her that there's a high probability I'd have girls considering the like 7:1 female:male ratio in my family.

Anyway, I said since my name starts with a C, I'd like my girls' names to start with a C. Crystal, Carmen, Candace, Celina, and Camille were my suggestions. She said that was the most egocentric thing ever and she would never let it happen. :nono: I told her she could have any boys' names start with D (her name is Dani) but she says that's cheating since the odds are in my favor.

Am I that vain? Is it so wrong to have C names!? The worst part is she likes most of the names I suggested, but doesn't want to give me the satisfaction of having the C's run everything :disappoin

j/k mang...i don't think you're in the wrong.

Do NOT do that. It's tacky. And everytime one of their friends finds out that there's a trend with the names...that's the end of it. They'll be made fun of forever.

I agree if there were 5 girls and they all had C names it would be pretty lame, but what if its only 2? I don't plan on having the Brady Bunch. I think 2 girls with C names is just right. That way I get my way and then if any more girls should happen to come along we can drop the C thing.

Then the only problem I can see is that maybe the one that gets the non-C name would seem left out :dunno:

tell her the only baby's name you should be thinkin' about is that '71 Challanger's you'll be buying from all the money you saved on a kid.

I like the name Camille.

Tell her, you're bigger than she is so you win by default.

I actually voted for the you shouldn't be allowed to procreate part, but really, it's not egocentric. Tell her to look at the names of Deion Sanders's children (Deion and Dieona if I remember correctly).

Plus it's not really obvious that you named your kid a C name because your name starts with C, so I don't see what the big deal is.

ok ok, the last time a girlfriend talked to me about baby names I freaked out. Maybe it was the fact I was like 16 years old. But anyways, I'd say keep your agreement. Scientifically speaking, the chance of getting a boy or girl is always going to be 50/50, regardless of family history. All but 2 of my 18 cousins are male, and now most of them are having girls for their children, so past family history has no effect on the sex of the child.

Apparently this is not true. I can't explain it because I'm not in genetics class, but my fried who is told me that they were reading about how some families are more likely to have boys and some families are more likely to have girls.

Look at the poll. LOL I think we're going to take up a collection and have you sterilized.

I don't see anything wrong with letting you name the kid a "C" name, but why limit it to that? There are lots of good names for babies.

settle this like a man... flip a coin.

00accord44
11-11-2006, 10:48 AM
I see most people would like to have me neutered... dizamn

But bluevp, our convo wasn't indicative of us having babies anytime soon, it was completely hypothetical. No need for me to freak out. Plus I'm 23 so I guess my brain can handle the topic. If I was 16, I would've immediately changed the subject by setting myself on fire.

Yes Chris, I'll name my daughter Cedric... that'll make her childhood real easy.

I don't remember too much about genetics from high school, but the way females outnumber males in my family is ridiculous. Somethins gotta be goin on.

And unfortunately she's not a believer in the power of the flipped coin. But at least then she has 50/50 chance

Hmmm. My grandfathers initials were CJP, I'm CDP, maybe I can use that to my advantage. She knows how much I love my grandpa R.I.P 8-18-03 :frown:

if you somehow avoid the AF members attacking you with scissors and hedge clippers and manage to procreate, i think the first one should be fair game, it's your desire and i don't see any problem with letting you name the first one. maybe not all of them, she probably would want to name some and i think you should give her that (should you two have babies).

I want to name my first boy Philippe after my father, i have the same first name, last name, and middle initial as my grandfather so i think that'd be a cool tradition to keep going. after that i don't care, i just want names that can be pronounced in french and english (or whatever other language my wife speaks, the important thing is that they can be pronounced in french without butchering it)

When I get a kid, I'm naming him after me, my dad, and my grandpa. Damn skippy he's gonna be the IV!

If you have 2, you and your ol lady can split the names.

I dunno. Its not like she's raising hell about it, its just a playful disagreement we're having. And its not like we're having kids anytime soon. I'd like to graduate college first and I'm sure she'd like to finish grad school.

And I'm still watching you... :p

Calling all your kids by names starting with the same letter is tacky. And the names you've chosen are tacky as well.

I dunno, I'm a stickler for family names, being named after my grandfather, probably name my son after my father, etc etc...

It could be far worse. I could go ghetto fab like some other members of my family and invent some shit like Chemisha or Chantira. As of yet, there are no family names per se, but there are a lot of C names starting with my grandather, Claude.

Cause the names I said are completely fake and ridiculous. BUT unfortunately names like that exist in the black community. I'm so glad my mom did not take part in that movement

My dad got to name me (unfortunately) and mom had to choose between Elijah and Micah. I got the second one but I wouldn't saddle any kid with that name. As for 50/50 chance on boy or girl, in 125 years there has been one girl born to my dads side of the family and that was 20 years ago. My wifes family is about 1 boy to 3 girls. My older brother died before I was born but I wanted to use some part of his name so I took his first and made it my sons middle name. You could always make his/her middle name a C name and let your wife pick the first name and call him/her by the middle name. That way everyones happy.

I thought about that. I guess I could then claim that as a victory... or at least a draw

We'll find out... in 4 years I predict

Just tell her it's 50/50. Because it is. You have a 50% chance of having either a boy or a girl.
