Hey all,

I need some help with this cursed automatic adjusting clutch cable. I just had the tranny down at the shop to have the reverse gear idler replaced and when I went to re-install it, now the clutch cable is too short and won't let the clutch engage. I've heard of ways to get it to release some slack but I can't seem to make it happen. Also, if there is a manual adjusting conversion cable, where do I get one? Please help, need this thing back on the road tomorrow.

Ok, no one here helped me but for the benefit of those who may have this problem in the future, I'll post the solution I found on my own.

Have some mechanics wire ready, about 3 inches, pull the rubber boot up and away from the spring on top, grab the large black plastic adjuster and keep trying to push it up towards the spring on top. Keep fiddling with it until it finally compresses the spring, then hold it in the compressed position and wrap the mechanics wire around the flat area above the spring, then around the little ears sticking out on the adjuster part to hold it. Then, re-install the cable into the release arm then remove the wire.
