My wifes 00 Xterra developed an odd problem yesterday, she rolled the front pass window down part way and it stuck there. Now only the driver window operates correctly, none of the other windows will go up or down on any switches, driver or at each door. I checked the fuse first, its fine. The problem is obviously in line before the power is distributed to each door to activate the motors, could it be the window control panel at the driver location? I am fairly good home mechanic and I know where my mulitimeter is currently hidden, where should I start to diagnose this problem? Thanks all.

Dollars to donuts she managed to press the lockout button on the driver's armrest in front of the rest of the switches....

Uh, so I called her and instructed her to go outside and flip the lock switch on the windows and now they work fine. Ok, so this is my 2nd post and I have already managed to make a complete fool of myself! I can rebuild a motorcycle engine in my garage but that fancy new electric window concept is still so hard to understand...

Well, at least you didn't drive all the way to the dealer and wait two hours for them to get to it and THEN find out it was the switch!

It happens to everyone, once and a while. Welcome to the board. At least you gave us all a chuckle. :D

I told a few of my coworkers about the window lock deal, and due to the fact that I am considered the resident gearhead, the ribbing around here is epic!
