Dash Error on 90 Riv

1990 Riviera - Dash reads error. :banghead:

I read the earlier thread from 2004 on this and it seems the same problem. Every now and then the dash goes blank and only shows a "Error" message "00" for miles and in the far bottom left corner, states "electrical problem detected." Took it to my electrical guy (fixed moon roof short and alternator short for me before) and he couldn't find anything wrong other than my battery was going. Replaced the battery but it is still doing it. The IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) thing sounds about right but where is it located on the car? Can try and get one on e-bay and have my electrical guy put it in for me or try it myself. Really is annoying.

hey i just bought a 1990 buick riviera myself. been sitting i a garage for a couple years and put a battery in it and turned the key and started. ran for a few seconds then stalled. then the same thing showed up on my dash. has anyone have the answer to this yet?

We spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix this at my local electrical shop with no progress. I finally picked one up on ebay and never had a problem w/ it since. My car was in a hit and run saturday so I may have some riviera parts for sale in the next few days depending on whether insurance (liability) is gonna pay for repairs. I will sell my dash for $90 shipped in 48 states. I paid a lot more for it when I got it and it is a quick 15 min swap few screws on dash bezel and 4 screws on display and two plugs on instrument panel. Give me a couple days to see what insurance company wants to do if interested email [email protected]
