Rotor

I have a 1988 suburban 1500 4wd. Now because it is 4wd i dont know how to get the rotor off so that i can get it serviced. If anyone can tell me I would greatly appreciate it.

i have a 96 4x4 that i changed the rotors on. i had to take the calipers off, then the rotor should come off. mine had to be whacked a few times with a bfh to break them loose, but since i was replacing the rotors it didn't matter if i dinged up the old ones.

Take the calipers off like woody6725 said. If there is some rust showing around the center of the rotor (near the studs), some penetrating (spelling ?) lube can help. Then using a hammer, hit the rotor on the flat surface between the studs. Never hit the rotor on the surface where the pads touch the rotor (unless you know you are throwing them out).

Before you reinstall the rotors, you can put a dab of anti seize on the hub between the studs to make sure they come off easier next time.
