93 Accord SE Thermostat probs.

My 93 Honda Accord SE, engine code F22A6, has no thermostat. Dont ask me why. Its just not there. As a result, it warms barely/slowly and seldom sees full operating temp. I went to buy a new thermostat and was asked which temp I needed, 170, 180 or 192 deg F. Back to the internet. Found some specs on the UK Honda site that says the thermostat should start to open at 172 deg. AHAH! But wait...it also says that it should be full open at 194 deg. DRAT! Confusion reigns supreme!! Called Honda dealer and he would sell me an OEM but couldnt tell me the temp rating. My Clymers manual says 192. AutoZone says 180. Advance says 170.

Ok..How are thermostats normally rated? Opening temp? Full open temp? Which one should I buy?

I went throght the same thing with my 99 LX.
I do not remeber what thermostat rating I bought for mine. I think I picked somethig in the middle.
If yours does not have a thermostat at all, any thermostat will do good I think. Just watch the temperture and do not over heat the engine.
