I just finished my ls/vtec swap did the 20 mile "hard" break in period the car barely smoked when it got around 20 miles. but now i'm at around 150 and its smoking like none other. i've ringed it twice since the same problem happened when i did the "easy" break in. and also it'll seems like it hits a rev-limit at any random rpm (started at 7000 now its down to 5800) which isnt right.. i need advise, am i breaking it in wrong? is there something else? please someone help my delemma i know i had the a/f ratio almost perfect so i dont think i washed out the rings. its fuckin frustrating!!!:banghead:

That's a bummer, there's to many things it can be.
I don't think it's break-in related.
How does it smoke? when stepping on it or letting off?
Check your compression. Verify that first.
Also you may need to have the system pressure
checked to see if you have a blown head gasket,
(that's my first thought)
if so, have everything checked for flatness before reassembling.
Also checked for cracks (magnafluxed) you could have a cracked
head and not know it. It's going to take a machine shop to check
everything completely and you'll have to tear it down again of course.
Sorry about that.

Yeah i actually took it to the shop, they did a leak down check on it and the compression was right-on it turns out my old head had bad valve guides in it so that made some of the smoke and also the oil control rings (that crazy looking wavy one) in cylinders 1 and 3 overlapped! and on cyl 2 the lower oil ring's gap was lined up with the "wavy" oil ring gap causing the blow-by. some how it got fucked up when the rings were put in the first time.. luckily none of the sleeves got fucked up in the process. that was the third time i tore it apart in the past two and a half months!! it sucks! but its all good now, thats all that matters
