HELP! Need a 6 speed manual transmission for our 2006 997. If anyone can help me out, PLEASE call me at 905-721-8828.

Its not as easy as searching for one on the net because you can't get one. Well thats not true, we can if we spend 10 grandUS, and we just simply want to rebuild ours and you CAN'T get the internal parts.

If you have something or can help, please let get back to me. Thanks, Brian.

lol.. no.. its a race car.. Grand Am super cup.... which is why the dealer will not warranty the transmission.. only the motor, sad to say.. far from it being my first manual...
And to buy one from a dealer is 10 grand US. and the part we need is a 30 cent part.. but we have spent weeks looking for a used one, or a smashed up one being parted out.. so we fabricated our own parts for it..

but its a really crappy part that broke apart.. a plastic spacer on our shift forks.. all well.. just putting it back together now and testing soon!

I would call RUF usa in Addison Texas. they should have one as they use the same tyranny in there RC12.

i can't see ruf having a trans being cheaper than porsche. nothing on ruf are really even close to a porsche. those cars are so modified it's funny that they are able to use porsche bodies. i wouldn't be surprised if the tranny in the ruf is the same type, but not the same ratios.

I think there the same as in the cup cars but yes different gearing to reach there 211MPH. I thought that you were looking for a part and not a whole tranny. when I got my car serviced Monday they had a 996 cup car they were working on as they do performance upgrades and race setup for any Porsche. so if it was only a part you were looking for they could get it for you from Porsche Racing.

On another note, may I ask where you would go to get a cup car?

we go everywhere.. heres link to some pictures at Daytona..

anyways, on a side note. we fabed our own parts getting rid of plastic spacers and replacing with brass spacers.. we put the gear box back together last night and it seems to shift better now then it did before. (by hand) no play on shift forks!!! we are going to to test it on the track and see how it holds up..

thanks.

EDIT - sorry, i read it wrong.. i thought you were asking where we go.. to get a cup car... get we may even have our GT3 super cup car going up for sale here soon.. MAYBE!!! but search internet..

midrange, If the part that you machined is a wear part (like a thrust washer or bushing or similar) you should keep an eye on it and probably replace it with a bronze part. Brass is generally not a great bearing material. Most brass alloys can gall. Bearing bronze alloys are tuned to alleviate this problem.
