Can you take another thread about "Lost"??

I'll be brief on this one... Whose idea at ABC was it to start off the season of "Lost", alienate many viewers by the new plot(s), and then put the show on hiatus for 13 weeks? What are they thinking? It took me a couple to three episodes to get back up to speed on this 3rd season, only to find out I have to wait until February to see new episodes again. Last year they "screwed" with the viewer by showing 1 or 2 new episodes, then showing some repeats, then they would show a "catch-up" show full of flashbacks to get the viewer ready foe new episodes, in case they forgot what was going on. I say bring back the days of old when the new season of a show started in mid September and ran through mid/late May with a couple of weeks or so off for special/holiday programming. I can see why the big 3 networks are continually losing viewers to cable/satellite. /end rant/

You're pissed about Lost just like I'm pissed about Sopranos. They take like 18 month breaks!

I agree on both counts. Lost, well the title says it all. No matter how manytimes I try to get back into it, I myself get lost. :banghead:

As for the Sopranos, don't get me started. there is no justification for not completing a complete full season and then to make the diehard viewers wait so damn long.

The same goes for Commander in Chief. What happened with that?

From what I understand Commander In Chief didn't do so well because it was viewed as a dumbed down version of West Wing so they gave it the axe.

And if you're attached to Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip or The Class, be prepared for more heartbreak.

Has Lost stopped airing in the US? The last episode I saw was series 3, episode 5. Does this mean I have to wait until next year before any more will be released?

They are calling tonight's (11/8) episode the "Fall Finale". It is supposed to take a 13 week break resuming in February to finish out the season. I read somewhere last year that the networks are trying to introduce short season series, usually 6,8 or 13 week episodes in length and decide to put them in the middle of a well established series such as "Lost" because the viewers are already there and they know the viewing habits. Usually these shows are 'pilots' and if they become popular may return for a full season in subsequent years. I liked the series that ran for about 6 weeks last spring from the producers of Saturday Night Live and delved into the lives of 3 or 4 families, (can't remember the show's name off hand.) Other series that are similar to this new type of scheduling are USA's The 4400, Monk, The Dead Zone, FX's Rescue Me, The Shield, etc. I guess it's a new way of scheduling tv shows to "maximize" viewership.

Network execs are grasping at straws to find ways at gaining audiences. Its damn near impossible to jump out of the gate with a huge premier anymore because there are so many damn chanels to watch nowdays. You can't just throw a show on Thurday night NBC and expect 12 million people to watch. And without those guaranteed audiences, advertising dollars get thin. Especially since TiVo lets people blow right past the commercials if they don't watch it on first air.

The Sopranos are a different animal though. Those shows are already paid for through subscription dollars. There are no ad dollars to be had. HBO just knows it has a gold mine on its hands. Even though ratings slipped last season due to an impatient audience coupled with subpar plot lines. But they know there's enough people waiting with remote in hand (like myself) for the next season to start despite the abuse of a 15 month hiatus. Evil bastidz

i heard that since everyone airs repeats during this time, lost doesn't want to air repeats for some reason, they're just going to wait. i dunno, i don't really care what they do i just wait for the dvd to come out and i get that, watch them all over a week or so, then wait for the next dvd. i couldn't stand to watch it once a week, the suspense would just annoy me.

anyways, who's pissed off about libby dying? she's from the mental assylum and they just kill her without going into her past or anything, what's up with that.
