I lost all power when driving in the rain, tries to turn over but no spark. Any suggestion on where to start eliminating the problem.

Start by stating what year Mustang? Engine size? What type of transmission?

Heck that might help. I have an 89 mustang lx, 2.3 ltr and automatic transmission. My son has asked a few people and they think I might have slipped time and I ruined the engine by trying to start it but I thought maybe it might be something else. I am looking for a few suggestions before I start looking for a new engine. Thanks.

I would have to hear it turn over to say if its out of tme or not. Lack of compression is evident when a motor is out of time and it has a distink sound when turning over. But if it still turns overe strong then its not battery/altenator related. So you could have jumped time. How many miles are on the current motor? Try setting the motor at TDC on the #1 cyl. Just turn the crankshaft over with a ratchet to get the piston at top dead center. Then check the rotor button to see what cylinder it is pointing at. With #1 @ TDC on the compression stroke the rotor button should also be pointing at #1. Best of luck to you and keep us updated.

How do you know it has no spark? Did you pull a spark plug wire and place it next to the engine and crank the engine?
