I got two pitbulls from a guy a little over two weeks ago, they will be 11 weeks old this Thursday (11/9/06). As of right now one weighs 16.6 lbs, the other weighs 17.2 lbs. They are pure bred and the guy I bought them from has a male that weighs over 100 lbs. Just asking, what would you expect them to weigh over the next year? I'll try and get pictures up soon.

I lived with one for a few years in college. She was the runt of the litter so she isn't very big, and being an apartment dog she got fat.

I'd say they'd be pretty big, not sure 100lbs though. Just raise them right, and they'll be good dogs. Unlike the monsters the media claim them to be.

Post some pics. I'd love to see them.

Yeah they'll be raised well. As much as I hate to hit a dog, it's the best way to show them who's superior, not like they can't handle the beating, they're tough little fuckers. Oh, also they're both females. I'd expect them to be between 55-75 lbs when they are one year old, after that they'll just grow outwards anyways. The one is white with black eyes, and black rings around his eyes, a black butt with a white tipped tail and some other black spots. The other one is a light brown, white stripe between the eyes that follows down to the nose and a white chest, and white feet. They're cool ass lookin dogs, and for being pure breds, I got them CHEAP.

I've seen very few, like maybe acouple even close to 100 lbs. The last two I have owned were around 60-75, both males, my rot was way heavier than my pits(we are talking american pit bulls right)

Hm...maybe these are just genetically large ones or something. He weighed it the other day at 103.x lbs. He ran it over when it was young and broke it's growth plates or something so it didn't grow very tall, whether that affects weight or not though I don't know. His male dog was only 10 lbs at 10 weeks old, so these are just roughly 5-7 lbs heavier at the same age.

It'll depend a lot of how big the mom is too, but with them being females I would expect them to be somewhere around 55-60 pounds after the first year and then maybe a couple more pounds over the next few years until they get old and fat.

Post up some pics, I love pits!

From all the pits I've been around (my friend in Florida keeps between 8 and 15 at a time) the females get to be about 70 lbs. The heavier males were about 85-90. I have seen some beastly ass males though that could have hit 100.

Great dogs though, despite their poor public image.

true, the mom for my current dog was kinda small, maybe 50-55 lbs, and he didnt grow nearly as big as his pop, so it depends a lot on the breed

i have a pitbull ive had since it was born. female, now about 70 lbs. after the first year they should grow pretty big, i think mine was like 50 lbs after year one. ive never full force hit my dog, sometimes yelling and pointing at her, telling her shes bad works. she usually submits and lays down with her head down. and despite the reputation, my dog is freindly with all other dogs, and friendly with all people. this girl i know has a mini chuwawa and they get along fine. i also have 2 cats that are with her all day.. mine looks like urs im sure, brindle with a white stripe on her nose, and a white front belly, half white feel. shes in my signature...

the problem with these dogs isn't that they're vicious, it's the they're (sorry to those who love them, they're cool dogs) not all that smart and they're verry loyal. they're normally very good pets but stupid owners do stupid things and get surprised when the dog does something he learned.

one specific example, an owner tosses a doll at the dog to show his friends "haha look he completely destroys it" then the dog thinks "oh my master likes when i rip these things up" goes and tears up a baby "oh this one makes noises too, fun"

you just have to be careful that you don't train them poorly and it'll be a good dog. they're cool dogs, not that i'd own one because i believe there's some law against breeding them here, either that or i heard about one somewhere in the states, but they're hard to find and i'd prefere other dogs.

i have to disagree with the stupid part. i went to puppy training classes and my dog was in the top 3 as far as learning tricks.(out of 20) she was potty trained in about 3 weeks, and can learn tricks in just a few days..

sorry, should have said that this is just stuff i've heard, haven't researched any of it so don't take anything as fact.
edit: just checked wiki, pit bulls have been banned in ontario (my province) since august 2005. it's illegal to breed, buy, sell, or import pit bulls into ontario and owners have/had a grace period to have their pit bulls spayed or neutered.

its all good. i imagine there are stupid dogs in each breed, just as there is stupid humans in our breed!lol

OK, guys don't take this the wrong way, but I don't understand why people want to own pitbulls. I'm by no means saying that they're bad or vicious dogs and I know that when they are it's the asshole owners fault.

but I view them as an unnecessary risk, you can't deny that they are more likely to be aggressive and you have to make damn sure they are very well trained and loved or you could potentially have a problem on your hands.

And I'm sure that 99.9% will make exellent pets and you won't have any problems with them, but when there's so many other breeds that have all the good qualities of a pit with less chance of bad qualities I just don't get it.

Our family dog for example you don't even have to worry about in the slighest and she's a big dog, she could easily fuck up a kid, but I've seen little kids pulling her hair, biting her, falling/stepping on her and the most drastic thing she'll do is get up, walk 10ft away and lay down again. I'm sure there's lots of pitbulls who are just as gentle, but you probably wouldn't want little kids treating them like a big teddybear.

Like I said before, I'm not judging anyone so you don't have to get defensive but feel free to explain your choice.

haha my dog does the same thing, she used to be a little more vicious, if you pulled her hair, ears, etc, she's growl. but now she's so used to kids that she doesn't mind it, sometimes enjoys it, when they're rough. if she doesn't like it she just gets up and goes to one of her other favorite sleeping spots.

my friends poodle is more viscious than my pit. its all in the breeding and owner. my friend had a fighting breed pit that bit someone, but my dog was a house dog that does the same things u guys explained. it plays with the neighbors kids all the time....

Any dog can be "viscious". Thats why you have some of that damn chihuahuas that act like monsters, but then there's the frail ones. My black lab was a very nice, family oriented dog. Up until another dog and/or animal stepped into his territory, then he was a viscious as hell.

I have owned 3 pit bulls. I lived by a high school and the first two i never got to see grow up high school kids poisned them and they we so nice they never barked or anything my two labs and my short hair were more aggresive. The pit bull i have now is a red nose hes 8 months old and wieghs about 75lbs. I have always been around pit bulls my friends and family members use to breed them. The size depends alot on how big there relatives are. My dogs mom is 65 lbs and the dad is pushing a 100 lbs. If you wieght train them they put on alot of muscle wieght quick. They are no more agrressive than any other dog. Just like all dogs they need alot of excersies (walks, playing fetch, etc) If you research it you will see that you are more likely to get bit by a retriever breed of dog then a pit bull. The problem with pits, rots, dovermens is that they are a large breed of dog and thier jaws are a lot stronger, and this is why there is more damage done. Another myth is that they have locking jaws if you look it up you will also find that is not true many vets have studied thier mandibules (jaws) and have found no diff from a pit bulls jaw to any other breed of dog.

I heard that fuckin' poodles have the most bites per year. I think they should be the ones outlawed and shot, I think they're gadamn ugly.

As of yesterday they were 18 lbs and 17.6 lbs. Sorry no pics yet, I'll remember to ask mom for the digital camera tonight, and once again someone will have to post them for my dumbass.

Imageshack.us always seemed to be the easiest for me.

Photobucket.com is better, but takes a little more time.
