question on subs and amp????????????

I recently purchased a rockford fosgate 600 watt box... i was wonderin would a 1600 watt amp do the job to power it... or does it not only matter on the wattage of the amp.. does anyone have any experience in this feild that could help me out...

1600 watts RMS of real power would be more than enough
