Hi All, I'm new to BMW's... I've got a '92 325is :)

I started her up this morning with the hood open, just to see that everything is in good shape. I found a whisping sound coming from somewhere in the engine bay... Sounds kind of like suction or something related to air moving... Anyone know what it is from? Is it normal? I'm not too worried about it, considering how it sounds... Sorry for the newbie questions.

PLEASE REPLY IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING!:sun:

Could it be a vacuum hose that's come undone? That might be causing your check engine light (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t64338.html) to come on.

Cheers!

That sounds like it very well could be... I dont have my Chiltons right next to me, could you tell me where the vaccum hose is connected? Are you referring to the hose that goes from the carbs to the airbox?

I really don't know!! I'm not familiar with these engines yet. This is the 5th day I've had my car. I remember hearing someone mention the same symptom on a Porsche listserve. They traced it to a craked vacuum hose.

Sorry, I'm not much help. But please keep us informed as you track down the problem.

Cheers!
