It's technically not the highest horsepower S2000, since it's not an S2000 engine, but it's still 950+ rwhp. Supposedly they had to make some alterations to the chasis, which people are talking about affecting the handling.

its pretty neat. I have been thinking that Honda should make a different motor for the S2000. I would like to see something like a 3.5 liter 8 cylinder that revs to 8000 or something like that.

I'm not sure how solid the info is, but I read an article about it in C&D or R&T or somethin a few months ago Its gonna be a 3.6ish Liter V8 pushing out about 375 hp if I remember correctly, but don't quote me on that.

I know it'll have the new AWD-SH system like the RL.

I'll look for the figures

EDIT- New NSX will supposedly have a V10. No hp figures, I seem to have created those in my mind. But it will be designed to compete with the new Supra that will be appearing around 08-09. So expect 400hp if not much more. I'm curious as to what the displacement will be in that V10... 6L Honda :confused:

The Honda McLaren V10s and V12s were 3.5 litre. I'm guessing they'll probably base the new engine on what they've already built. I don't know if the Honda techs know how to handle large displacement engines, all that torque would confuse them.


edit: found this picture - I don't read Japanese but that looks like 5L V10...It's all just speculation at this point anyway.

I doubt there will be that many engine swaps in the S2000 simply because a lot of people buy the car for its engine. Plus, a stock engine (internals obviously) has put down over 700 horsepower on a dyno.

thats right, so we need a honda rotary revving to 12k rpm... ok well maybe thats not gonna happen but it would actually make me interested in a honda vehicle. doesnt surprise me they are using a v10 in the nsx, honda is allergic to v8's

No, re-read it again... he said a stock engine, internals obviously, made 700hp.

If you use process of elimination you can come to the same conclusion I did. If you beef the internals up, nothing will happen to the power output of the motor. If you slap on a fatty turbo and all the bolt ons you can think of, but leave the internals stock, plus replacing the camshafts, some folks don't consider that internal work, since you don't have to rip the motor apart completely... You do all that, you get power.

Get it? :wink:


Although, I can't see a stock S2000 block/internals being very reliable at 700hp. Not for long at least.

We were just talking about the NSX in general old vs upcoming (at least I was) hence the confusion. I guess it would be kinda cool to drop the NSX engine in an S2k, but I don't really see why anybody would spend that money to gain 30-50 horses. Unless they had dreams of SC and wanted the extra displacement

Ah my bad. That would be a pretty pointless swap tho, the motor wasn't what made the NSX special, as accord said, its not that big of an increase

It's true, the car is very peaky. I don't notice it at all though. In daily driving situations I can still keep ahead of traffic without going into VTEC, and when you're driving hard, you keep the car in VTEC (6000-9000 rpms). If low end is an issue, than you're either in the wrong gear or in the wrong car ;)

see that is how a S2000 is suppose to sound.. like a mean car, not like a can of wasp. also one of my best friends has a F20c powered S2K and you have to rev that thing to 4K to move anywhere when just driving around town. mean while i shift my car at 2K and just let the tq do the work.
